Decanted, no sediment noted, 14% alc. Cellared for a year and without a doubt, a classic example of a wines tasting better on the 2nd day!
I believe there is some Grenache blended in here?
Color. Medium ruby red/garnet. Beautiful depth of color here, medium intense centre plus.
Nose. Pretty closed at first but later blackberry, smoke, herby. Hint of prunes and cherry on day 2. Very appealing.
Palate. Initial reaction was sure tastes better than it smells! Earthy, low tannin, chalky, raspberry, red berries came to mind on first entry.. Pepper and some heat here, needs time to evolve overnight?
Quite some difference next day. Some nice ripe fruits, better balance, not so hot. Good depth of flavors with blackberry to the forefront.
Cost was around $18 Cdn I think.
No real need to cellar this one, like the Panarroy I enjoy so much.
