I had a single bottle of the Midbar 44 Red 2010 laying around, and I went for it. This hot climate, Israeli wine is a blend-- presumably in descending order of contribution--of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Sirah and Merlot. The initial bite, followed by considerable spice, provides sufficient cover for its ripeness and lack of acidity, turning this into quite a charming wine. The tannins are by now well integrated, and age has intensified the richness of the cocoa and chocolate, on the finish.

Best,
Pinchas
