Shipping wine from US to Israel

Does anyone have any experience shipping a case of wine from the US to Israel? Any advice how to do it?

Wow! I all remember are the horror stories that Rogov would talk about on this forum when customs would take his wine from him or let it die in a hot strange room or other such atrocities. I hope you have lots of protectsia!

I've shipped out wine from Israel to many countries so far, but I've no experience at all doing it the other way around except for that one bottle of BR Cohn (which, by the way, I'm looking forward to enjoy for sukkot) given to me so kindly as a gift by one of the NY forumites. I'm dreaming constantly about cases of Shirah, Brob, Four Gates etc. making aliyah on Nefesh B'Nefesh planes straight to my cellar... But forget the customs, only the shipping cost is horrifying...

Gary, on a more serious note, why don't you check with your bosses at Royal? That's also what they do all the time with Herzog and Covenant. I know for a fact that Tzur Agencies here can accommodate special requests to ship wine from France to Israel even for private people so perhaps you can find an arrangement for yourself also?

You need to contact the Wine Institute in Israel, tell them you re doing a personal import of your wine.
You will have to fill in a form.
This form has to be remitted to the clearing agency in Israel who will take the wine out of customs.
Be careful : Wine Institute will probably ask for 1 bottle (or more, depending on quantity you shipped) to be sent to them for "inspection".
They will then send you a "ok" document, and with that document your clearing agency will be able to release the wines (after you pay for duties and vat)

If you really have to ship wine from US to Israel , make sure that is matching with FDA requirement . Most countries are restricting individuals the import of alcohol unless it is for personal use. See below information as far as regulations
