WTN: 2001 Baron Nathaniel / Baron Philippe De Rothschild

Jan, Hi….

Not entirely certain that this is the wine to which you refer but worth a stab in the dark.

Baron Philippe de Rothschild, Bordeaux, Rouge, 2001: Light to medium bodied, this fresh and lively unoaked blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc lacks sophistication but might make a pleasant quaffing wine for those just starting to drink reds. Drink now. Score 84. (Tasted 29 Jan 2002)

Thank you Daniel. I fear it's not the one. There is a myriad of wines that the estate is making. I am looking for the 2001 edition of this one: Image
I have a suspicion though that the (W)TN will not be very different

Jan...

With all due respect to the Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild, who purchased the property that now houses Chateau Mouton Rothschild in 1853, the wines that today carry Nataniel's name are not at all exciting - probably best categorized as supermarket wines. I have not tasted the 2001 but all others that I have sampled have earned scores of between 83-86.

Thank you Rogov. I put out a line on the other side of the forum to see whether there is "hard" evidence for the 2001 vintage.
