Barone Ricasoli, Chianti Classico, Brolio, Tuscany, 2006: Dark garnet towards royal purple, full-bodied, with soft tannins integrating nicely with spicy wood, berry, black cherry and currant fruits, those backed up by notes of bitter-sweet chocolate. Rich and long. Drink now-2012. Score 91.
Fonterutoli, Chianti Classico, 2006: With its generous cocoa and vanilla notes, a medium-bodied red showing tempting blackberries, black currants and earthy-herbal notes. Delicious now but best 2009-2013. Score 91.

Antinori, Chianti Classico, Peppoli, Tuscany, 2006: Garnet towards royal purple, medium- to full-bodied, with soft tannins integrating nicely and showing generous black and red berry notes on first attack, those opening to reveal notes of spring flowers and bitter-sweet chocolate and, on the long finish, hints of minerals and white pepper.
