Alfasi Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc 2011

by Gabriel Geller » Wed Jun 13, 2012 12:53 pm

Hey folks,

I just read that this Chilean kosher wine, Alfasi Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc 2011, selling for $13-15 for a 500ml bottle in the States is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon that was affected by botrytis, exactly like a Sauternes. Has anyone here tasted it?

Thanks,

GG

Hi Gabriel,

I posted on this wine in the Pesach thread: http://www.wineloverspage.com/forum/village/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=43554&p=356129&hilit=Alfasi#p356129

Evidently, I also paid for it way more than the prices you're quoting. I would also like to add, that I've had it several more times since Pesach, and it didn't impress me a much as it did then.

Best,

Thanks Pinchas, I saw it on sale on kosherwine.com at these prices. I didn't now until today that it was both a sauterne blend AND botrytis impacted.
