The bottle we thought would never be good YET IS!

by Yehoshua Werth » Tue Jul 10, 2012 11:38 am

What is the one bottle that for some reason missed the hype yet delivered a good value or just flat out was a big YEAH; after tasting it?

Hi Yehoshua, interesting yet subjective question anyway...

IMHO the Livni Pinot Noir 2009. It is really special and unique. But I know that a few fellow forumites would disagree with me. Yet in my experience when I held a tasting of that wine, all the people were blown away! :D

Best,

GG

Indeed many of ou Israeli folk shot down the 2009 livni and Tanya wines. I liked many of them, with their aggressive style and bold flavors.

The Gift, Pinot Noir, Central Coast. A very thin, light, low alcohol Pinot showing significant oxidation (it's either '01 or '02 vintage). I had it multiple times a few months ago and it was beautiful each time.
