An attractive deal on 08 Yiron (NJ)

by Lior Yogev » Tue Nov 20, 2012 8:16 pm

Often wine-searcher lowest prices are just a marketing trick, but this one is for real - I just got three bottles (arrived in 24hr even though I paid for the cheapest delivery options, way to go!)

https://www.shoppersvineyard.com/store/ ... p13663.htm
(Now that I think of it perhaps the prices are so low because of shmita)

18.95$/btl, which is less than anything I know in Israel. 14$ ground delivery, 0.85$ insurance (optional).

Can anyone share other online stores with a selection Israeli wine that ship to CT ?

Thanks
Lior

I would not be surprised if the sale becomes more widely accessible. Last spring/summer there was a big "dump" of 2007 Yiron --- they seemed not to be moving in Israel in sufficient quantities, so they were sold here at a price comparable to the one you quoted, maybe even two/three dollars cheaper.

It was $12/bottle, and even $19 is less than wholesale price in Israel... :(

Gabriel, there are still stores in Israel that sell it for 80 NIS so perhaps you need to renegotiate your understanding with their agent :)

Lior, you're partially correct but it's far more complicated than that... Also one of the many reasons I prefer working with the boutique wineries.

This one will be more available because of Shmitta

and the place that sold that ...Well heard words after... Crazy...

People found @ $19.99 it is great!

What a deal now the prices are raised yet still @ $23 it is a wonder-full wine.

Wow! Can't believe I missed that deal. My cellartracker tells me I purchased some '07 Yiron in september, 2011 at $15/bottle, but had I known about this, I'd have stocked up!!!
Anyhow, I haven't tasted the '08 but the '09 is delicious as always. And unlike some of you, I've always preferred my Yiron on the younger side. I love the fruit-forward kick it gives, which kind of fades as it ages. For a more balanced wine, there are better choices out there to cellar--such as the Yarden CS.

The 2008 Yiron is easily available in Chicago through Binny's and at the Jewel/Osco supermarket on Howard St. Price at both is usually $21-25, sometimes on sale for less.
