New Terrenal wines Cab and Tempranillo

by David Raccah » Wed Sep 11, 2013 9:39 pm

I enjoyed two new Terrenal wines. The 2012 Spanish Cab and the 2012 Tempranillo. Both are solid wines, but give the Cab time to air out.

Over Shabbos, I had the chardonnay and malbec. I purchased them at the TJ's wine store near Union Sq. in NYC, which, I was told, is the sole TJ's wine store in the state.

The chardonnay, served Friday night with my wife's delicious schnitzel, was quite pleasant. I asked my wife and daughter to guess at the price. My wife guessed $10, my daughter $8. Cost: $4.99, quite the QPR wine. The malbec, poured at shabbos lunch, didn't fare as well. On its own, I found it thin and lacking in any varietal character. Sipped while eating a hearty, meaty cholent it was as if I were drinking flavorless grape juice with an alcohol kick.

Next purchase, I will try the cab and tempranillo.
