Wineries to visit in Northern Galil

by Bill Coleman » Sun Dec 15, 2013 10:38 pm

We shall be spending two days in Moshav Netu'a, which is on Route 899 right on the Lebanese border, 32 km NW of Tzvat. Any recommendations on wineries to visit?

Adir is right across the street from Dalton and the two combine for a really nice visit. Slightly south is Galil Mountain which is also nice. Feel free to check out my winery map for planning purposes and always call in advance as it will highly enhance your visit.

I have been studying Yossie's map closely so I know what's in the area, and I've been looking at winery websites to try and figure out which might make for good visits. We actually did visit Dalton almost ten years ago so I have a good idea of what to expect there. What I'm asking of those of you who have personal experience is which wineries in the area do you think make for an interesting visit. Heaven knows there are lots to choose from!

Bill - the map from Yossie rocks. However, unless you want to see clean almost antiseptic tasting room (personality as well) then skip Galil. Stick to Lueria, Dalton, Netofa, Ramot Naftali, and maybe Adir.

I am using my cellphone and can barely type on it, so I'll just say that while in Jerusalem we had a fantastic visit at Tura fantastic visit at Tura and a miserable one at Domain Ventura. Just arrived in Galil, more later.

Visited Dalton & Adir today.

Question: Does wine transported out of the country qualify for VAT refund?

According to the Israel Tax Authority website, there is no VAT refunded for
food, drink, or tobacco products.

Just wanted to jump in and mention again that Yossie Horwitz's winery map and contact info is a fantastic tool. Yesterday a close friend asked me for advice re wine touring no too far from his home in the French Quarter (French Hill?) neighborhood of JLM. I gave him two loose itineraries, one going north to the Shomron, starting with a visit to Psagot, and then continuing north on road 60, or one going West down highway 1 and then south on 38 towards Beit Shemesh, with Flam, Tzora, Ella Valley and Agur as potential targets.

Anyway, rather than getting into detailed descriptions of each route and the wineries available there, I gave him the link to Yossie's Map...
