Hi Harry,
The wine to open the meal was the Midbar Semillion 2009. It is surprisingly crisp and fresh for its age, with copious amounts of lemony citrus racing through it. I followed that with the Hadju Syrah Eagle Point Ranch 2011, which offered dark fruit and pepper, but also a streak of heat that was more than I like.
