TN Weekend of December 8th, 2018

For the Channukah weekend I opened two well regarded bottles. The first was the Tzora Shoresh Blanc 2013, an oak-aged Sauvignon Blanc. The wine offers flavors across the fruit spectrum from melon and guava, to apples and even citrus. The effects of the barrel aren't overt in the form of wood, but covert by way of oxidation, tempering the fruit, even bending its flavors into acrobatic figures. The second was the Prix Hagafen Syrah 2014. Although I expected a bold wine flaunting its spiciness, I settled for a very well behaved wine, whose calling card is its smoothness and polished fruit profile.

Best Regards,
Pinchas
