TN for Weekend of December 22nd, 2018

by Pinchas L » Sat Dec 22, 2018 11:40 pm

I started the weekend with the Domaine Du Castel La Vie Blanc 2017, an almost equal blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay with 5% Gewurztraminer. The green streaks of the Sauvignon Blanc dominate a rather austere wine, whose fruit is held in check and has a refreshing dryness. Then I had the second of three French wines I purchased; the Domaine Ternynck Bourgogne Pinot Noir Les Brulis 2017. It's a light bodied wine with nice acidity, presenting flavors of red grapefruit and blood orange. The fruit profile is quite interesting for a Pinot Noir, and I was expecting more in the way of cherries or berries. But the wine grew on me, with time. It did seem to have some fizz, though, that was mildly distracting.

Best Regards,
Pinchas
