WTN: PJ with lobster

1999 Perrier-Jouët Champagne Cuvée Fleur de Champagne - France, Champagne (8/12/2017)
Served with steamed lobsters and corn on the cob for our 28th anniversary, this was a real treat. It's pretty much mature, as the toastiness takes center stage, but it's not into any oxidative zone quite yet. There is still a bit of apple/lemon freshness, though when hit with the lobster and lemon juice the wine focused on its toastiness, not its fruit. Maybe not the ideal wine for the food, but very enjoyable to drink, and a suitable celebration wine.

Nice.

You've been married since '89.

Wow.

And to be clear, obviously there are plenty of folks who have been married longer than that. It's just that I don't think of you as all that much older than me, but I was just entering high school in 1989 and not even dating, let alone thinking of marriage!

Anyway, it was also a big year politically. Especially for your beloved wine country Germany. So much has changed since then.

Congratulations to you and Laura!

I've had several REALLY good '99 Champagnes lately, but each time someone says they are surprised how good in a "weaK' vintage, which is not my impression.
