JV Wines in Napa has 2 bottles of 1991 Musar. Maybe I should try it?

If you've never had it before, then definitely give it a try!

1991 is one of the best Musar's, or so (I believe) Otto and others have told me.
Cheers,

Yes, you should try it. Stunning year. Give it 3-5 hours in the decanter.

Mmmm, what I thought too (having stopped at Beirut airport once and not being allowed out of plane). What about Israeli wines - would they be included too as somewhere between North Africa and Lebanon. Or would that shift the focus too much?

Unbelievable. I've seen Otto's "Musar Rocks" sig line so many times, read references to Musar, and had absolutely no clue that it's from Lebanon. I've had other wine from Lebanon that wasn't so great, but now I'll certainly have to hunt some Musar down and try it.

I love this board :)

It would be hard to find a better vintage from the '90s than '91 if you want to give Musar a try. Many of the other good '90s vintages are still somewhat shut down.

Well, I was planning my next trip to Argentina to ride with the gauchos, but I just watched Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations where they showed the cattle being branded and castrated...perhaps Montreal and Musar would be a bit easier on my stomach...and conscience!

2 bottles. Unsure of storage, it was on the shelf in a reasonably cool former grocery store.

Geez - I thought they just did that to the political opposition....

I am a Musar fan, though do not think nearly as much of the whites as Serge does.

We enjoyed a Musar vertical at MoCOOL in 2006, and Robin's notes are posted at the MoCOOL page. The '91 was one of several favorites. Robin preferred, slightly, the 95, and I really liked the stinky '93. But if there are a couple of '91s available I'd certainly grab them.

OK. I'm going to Napa on Thursday. They are not really very expensive ($31) so I will pick them up!

Great price, at least compared to what I paid for the 91.

Run, don't walk!!!! I feel lucky to say that my first Musar was a 1991 (and second a 96 that was noticeably tighter) that I had with the gracious NYC folks back in May. Truly a fantastic wine. I never got airplane glue notes as some mentioned - maybe perhaps I spent most of my childhood practicing the piano instead of building planes! Let us know about your experience with it!!! 8)
