Excellent wine. California fruit meets Rhone complexity and this wine is the result. Outstanding nose, funky, complex, slightly barnyardy in a good way, with a richness of fruit flavor in the strawberry/black raspberry vein, and an outstanding black olive toned finish. Good acidity, good depth of fruit. Could go a few more years to add more tertiary flavors, but is very nice right now. Good show, Steve. (91 pts.)

When this wine was first released, I thought it was pleasant enough, but just that....reminded me a bit of a low-brow CotesDuRhone :-) Last time I had it this winter back inb KC, I was mightly impressed by it, it had put on a lot of weight and showed lots of Rhone character. Steve's wines sorta have that way about them...what is unimpressive right out of the gate can sneak up and bite you in the a$$ down the road w/ some age. I can show you all the scars back there if you'd like to see!!
