WTN: The Stump Jump 2006

d'Arenberg.
McLaren Vale.

A blend of Riesling (63 per cent), Sauvignon Blanc (16), Roussanne (13) and Marsanne (eight).

Light spices and citrus on the nose.

Honeyed, creamy, quite tangy acidity, peppery, lemon and grapefruit, juicy and perfumed. A fairly big and intense wine, however, with time, the perfumed aspect grew in prominence and became a bit annoying.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $ 13.95 (Canadian...although, nowdays, I am not sure why I continue to stress that it is Canadian, since our currencies are pretty much equal).

Sounds like one we would like. I think it is still a good idea to post what currancy you are referring to. There are other dollars besides Canadian and U.S.

A local shop highly recommended I try this wine. I found it very hard to focus on the wine as it seemed to be discombobulated. Not totally unpleasant, but I thought the various components of the blend were just a bit angry with each other...somewhat like Europe nations in the first half of the 20th Century. I'm glad I tried it, however won't buy again.

Good observation Bill. It did seem a bit mixed up, with somewhat conflicting tastes. Perhaps the blend just doesn't quite work.
