1999 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin (11/1/2007)
Opened to pair with roast chicken.

Deep red color. The aromatics are all about deep cherry fruit wrapped in a mix of turned earth, warm herbs and sweet smoke. The flavors are actually more generous, and show lots of rich, primary fruit along with more of the warm herb & smoke elements. The finish is long, fruity and getting soft. The overall balance is excellent, and the wine could easily age another 5+ years before really coming into its prime. It is delicious now though, so I'm not at all sorry I opened it.

I like Fourrier a lot. Unfortunately lots of like-minded people seemed to discover at same time as I did. Prices are up. Thanks for notes.

I'm a big fan as well, but '99 is my last vintage due to the price issue.

Another fan here although so far I've only had tastings of it at Enoteca Vin in Raleigh.
