At last this producer and vineyard hit their stride. It opens with a deeply sensual forest-floor nose, hints of matasuke mushroom and black fruit. Lighter in body than in previous years (lighter than most New World pinots), the mid-palate is delicate with more black fruit, a touch of cola, a bit of cherry, maybe some black olive, other subtle and elusive tones. The earthiness is maintained in a very long finish. Utterly delightful.
