Thanks for posting this.

Scientists have proved what we have always known: labels count more than quality to many (most?) drinkers of expensive wine.

This is a sad fact of life for those of us who wish we could afford famous wines for their intrinsic value, but it pushes us to try new and sometimes exciting alternatives.

Best regards,
Alex R.

All I can say is that, in over 20 years of learning about and collecting/drinking wine, I have been more impressed with low cost wines that taste great than I have been with expensive wines that do not meet my expectations. The real news here, IMHO, is that there may indeed be a tendency to price wine at higher levels; levels that most wines do not deserve. Let's hope I'm wrong.

Thanks for posting, Steve! Although reading that made it clear to me that the accountants from Ernst and Young in the Loire thread are prose masters!

I just wish they would have posted what the $5 , $35, and $90 wines were (doesn't make any difference to their point, just curiosity). I feel bad for the subjects, though- the wine administered through a tube so there would be no oxygenation!
