WTN: Second hand blind tasting? :)

by Saina » Fri Jul 28, 2006 12:38 pm

What's this:

The wine is almost pink in colour and there is a steady stream of fizz.

The nose is typical enough of the area: a small touch of vanilla, bread crust, yet oddly enough the fruit seems more pear than apple dominated. There is a hint of earthiness and figs also.

On the palate the mousse shows strong and small. There is fine fruit and fine acidity backing it up but it somewhat lacks intensity on the mid-palate. The aftertaste is however nice and long and there is even a small hint of minerality creeping in which was not noticable on the nose or mid-palate. Nice stuff and correct, but not profound.

A non-vintage Cava of some sort?

Nope. It didn't have what I find is a signature of Cava: a clover + herbal character.

Cremant de Bourgonge? (Or however you spell a sparkling Burgundy)
More specifically a Blanc de Noir perhaps? I wish I was better at this stuff.

Robin, James: not Crémant either.

Hint: apples is what it should be.
