WTN: Saumur and Granit

2005 Paul Filliatreau Saumur
$12. Imp: Dressner. 13% abv. Synth cork.
This is really nice cab franc. Juicy fruit, minerals, medium body, mild acidity, and soft tannins make this a good summer match for a light summer meal. Once again, Dressner comes through with a tasty qpr winner.

2005 Domaine de la Pépière (Marc Ollivier) Cuvée Granit Vin de Pays du Jardin de la France Marches de Bretagne
$11 Imp: Dressner. 12% abv
One of my favorite Loire reds is a bit heftier in '05 than it was in '04. It’s still got that wonderful green leafy/herbal flavor mixed with zippy red fruit and a mineral core that I really enjoy. This wine is just so alive and refreshing.

 I've enjoyed most every Loire cab franc that I've had, Bob. Those overly woody Cali and Aussie cab francs fruit bombs that I had early on threw me off this particular grape.

2005 Paul Filliatreau Saumur

Thanks for the note, Bill. Our local retailer has a few of Dressner's wines, including this one. I'll swing for the big bucks! :-)

Regards, Bob
