  • 2004 Juliusspital Würzburger Stein Riesling Kabinett Trocken - Germany, Franken (9/5/2006)
AP 3000-072-05; 13%. Surprisingly dark colour! The nose is very fruity, tropical almost with its pineapple and passionfruit notes to the minerality. The palate is abundantly fruity, with only adequate acidity, but lovely minerality. Long and mineral and acidic aftertaste (curious that the acids appear so prominently only on the finish!). Very balanced for a Trocken.

Thanks for the note, Otto.

You may be surprised that the acids appear so prominently on the finish, but I am surprised to see a German Kabinett tipping the scales at 13 per cent alcohol!!

Yes. Trockens do tend to have too high alcohol (and not usually quite this monstrous gladly), but this was still balanced. It surprised me also. It's actually a good wine and drinking really nicely now. For the 17€ it's here, I'll be buying a couple more on occasion.
I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.
