Another big Spanish red from Montsant.

Montsant merits some attention I feel, some are quite big in structure and have some fair pricing.

WTN: 2009 Aviva Vino Bula Montsant.

$18, 14.5% alc, good cork, open one hour, no sediment, blend of mazuelo, grenache and syrah.

Very dark purple color, nose is quite earthy with blackberry. Dry entry on the palate, medium to full bodied. Firm tannins, plenty of blueberry and cherry. Not for the faint-hearted, held up well over three day period.

Yes, they are less OTT than most Priorat, both in style and price, but not immune from the frequent Spanish sin of over-oaking.
