AWCC Wine Friendliness Report Card

by Michael Grossman » Fri Aug 23, 2013 3:28 pm

The link to the AWCC state by state wine friendliness report card in today's email appears broken. Likewise any link from Google. I was able to locate the report in PDF form through a search on the AWCC site.

I found it somewhat ironic that while Washington DC ranks up there at the very top with an A+ rating, every state surrounding DC has a failing grade. Is this another example of the politicians taking care of themselves and the heck with the rest of us??

Not so much. D.C. is a special case (in this and many things).

On another site there were numerous flaws pointed out in the report.

Then there is the fact that states that do not allow grocery store sales received a big hit against their grade. I don't know about you, but I have never found grocery stores (except a few specialist outlets such a certain Whole Foods) to be a worthwhile place to buy wine. They tend to stock mass market crap.
