Inspired by JonBonne's article on Cucamonga, I tried last night w/ my toffee pudding:
1. GalleanoWnry Nino's Solera Sherry CucamongaVlly (18%; www.galleanowinery.com) MiraLoma/SanBernadinoCnty NB: Med. brown/amber color; huge vanilla/Am.oak very creme brulee/butterscotch/English pudding/toffee oxidized very complex lovely nose; slightly sweet intense vanilla/Am.oak very strong creme brulee/toffee some some alcoholic very complex beautiful flavor; very long/lingering very strong Am.oak/vanilla/vanilla extract intense toffee/creme brulee slightly sweet (5%?) bit aldehydic smooth complex finish; a lovely Am sherry. $29.69 (CB)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This is a wine that DarrellCorti instructed me to buy about a yr ago. The Galleano WebSite has no information on this wine, but it's supposedly a red blend. It strikes me as a sherry that was stored in barrels outside exposed to the sun. Except for the strong Am.oak signature, it reminded me a bit of the Sandeman Imperial Corregidor Oloroso Sherry, though not quite as complex. This is the kind of wine they should be making more of in Calif.
