WTN: 2005 Dönnhoff Brücke Riesling Spätlese

2005 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Nahe (6/26/2014)
Complex, elegant, and pure are the best descriptors for this wine. One word that does not really fit is Spätlese. The 2005 Brücke drinks as a fine Auslese. The aromas and flavors run to the tropical, with the acidity sufficient for balance, with none to spare for those who like something more electric. This is what the 2005 vintage gives us for now, purity, richness and elegance. There certainly is no lack of material here, so there is no reason to worry about additional cellar time. No issue with drinking it now though.

Had a lovely bottle of the '12 Brücke Spatlese tonight, rich sweet and juicy but such nice mineral verve as well. And interestingly, it showed more spine and minerality than a bottle of '12 Zilliken SR Spatlese.

That's surprising indeed.

It was my first time tasting the '12 Zilliken Spatlese so I don't know the wine well, but saved a bit to see if the bite comes out with more air. Who knows.
