WTN: Mosby Primativo '90...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Wed Sep 10, 2014 1:46 pm

Tried this last night w/ my pasta:
1. Mosby Primativo Bricca in Collina SBC (15.6%) 1990: Med.dark bit murkey some bricking color; rather pungent/toasty/smokey/oak rather herbal/pungent/earthy bit blackberry/Zin/licorice rustic/earthy/loamy bit alcoholic complex nose; rather tart/herbal/earthy/loamy strong smokey/charred/toasty/oak bit alcoholic slight blackberry/Zin quite tangy/grapefruity flavor w/ light/astringent/drying tannins; very long rather herbal/dusty/rustic some smokey/pencilly/oak slight alcoholic light blackberry/licorice/pungent/Zin complex finish w/ light/astringent tannins; the herbal character suggests the wrong grape planted in the wrong climate; quite a rustic/earthy/loamy wine that'd fit right in with a bunch of goat-pen/Apulian reds.
$16.00 (Arg)

A wee BP:
1. This was one of the very first Primitivos made in Calif. Mosby is located just south of Buellton on SantaRosaRd. Quite a cold growing climate I would think for Zinfandel. Actually, there was once Zin planted at the LaFondVnyd in the StaRitaHills along SantaRosaRd. When they could ripen it, it made a wonderful black-pepper/cold-climate Zin. Alas...they pulled those vines for...PinotNoir, of course.
