WTN: Love those BIG Chardonnays

Yah, this is a wine that many love to hate but I love to love them. 2012 Beringer Res. Chardonnay with roasted chicken was fabulous with lots of tropical fruit and a bit of orange peel note. Very obvious glycerin (legs) and perfect acidity, I wish I had a case but this was my next to last bottle. More exotic and full-bodied than the 2010 vintage. Love those Newton Unfiltered Chards too but those are considerably more expensive.

You know, Jim.....you're gonna be drummed outta the AFWE and IPoB crowd if you keep putting up TN's like this???

Every once in awhile, I like to go for one of these kinds of Chards. But they have to have a decent acidity to keep from becoming tiring on the palate. That's essential.

I like too, Jim. Really liked the 2012 which I didn't find nearly as tropical as I used to find Ed's versions (this said in the belief, possibly wrong, that Ed Sbragia no longer makes the Beringer chardonnays). Have you tried the Beringer's Luminos chardonnay? We like that quite a bit too--got a case for about 50% normal retail a year ago and have had the luxury of drinking what otherwise would be a special occasion wine just any old time.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

I'm am not usually a fan of big chardonnay...

But, I have really enjoyed some bottles of the Beringer Private Reserve (the 2008 most recently). It helps if a number of people are sharing the bottle, to minimize the risk of fatigue. Doesn't hurt that this can be found for as little as the high $20's too.
