2005 Nalle Zinfandel, Sonoma

Aromatic nose of berries and flowers, supple palate that's kind of like cabernet and kinda not, very dry for place and vintage (but not at all dried out), each pour was better than the last as it opened up, at peak or possibly just past it though it will be a long, slow run downhill. Very nice.

However, I've always believed that I particularly enjoy the claret style zin, but this bottle officially changed my tune. That is, compared to most clarets I would deem this a less complicated style claret, and without the flashy spice and bramble this is a less complicated version of zinfandel. Perhaps if one drank a lot of zinfandel there'd be a good reason for having this horse in the paddock, but to someone who drinks very little of it like me, there's really no point.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
