I've spent most of the week digging a ditch for a new electrical feed to my garage, then filling it in again. Meanwhile, the Giants have been losing. So, to celebrate finishing the ditch work and commiserate with myself over Bumgarner's loss, I walked over to Canevari's deli and bought some ravioli (best ravioli in Sonoma County AFAIK) and dug out (been doing a lot of that lately) a bottle of Yoakim Bridge Zinfandel '11.
The ravioli, with my own sauce on them, and green salad with sliced tomato (and a bit of fresh oregano and English thyme in the dressing) were great. The wine couldn't have been a better match. Beautiful clear cherry color, nice combination of cherry/blackberry on the tongue, smooth and medium length. 14.2% alcohol $34.40 wine club price.
David Cooper makes his Zin from his 80+ year old dry-farmed estate, and is never in too much of a hurry to release. This was released in the fall of '13.
