WTN: Worst wine of the year...so far

by David M. Bueker » Fri Jul 31, 2015 8:12 am

2012 Domaine de la Parentière Vin de France Fraicheur Iodee L'Atlantique - France, Vin de France (7/30/2015)
This is right up there for most unpleasant wine of the year. The best analogy I can think of is battery acid because there was nothing there except acid. There is no fruit, no minerality, nothing herbal or really any flavor at all, just lots and lots of acid. There is no reason to drink this wine. have water instead - just as much flavor and easier on the stomach.

The only saving grace...I did not pay for it.

Fresh Atlantic iodine? Is this Loire? SW France?
Not that I'm seeking it based on this note...

It might be put into the bottle in the Loire, but doesn't "Vin de France" open the source fruit to anywhere in France?

While technically vin de France can come from anywhere, I'd guess 99% of the ones imported to US are from one locality. Either outside any appellation or more commonly in violation of some appellation rule.
