Tried this w/ Susan tonight:
1. Cuvee MichelLeon GWT Ad'OP: vin d'Alsace (13%; www.PlumeRidge.com; Shiped by A.M. @ 67520/France) 2012: Light gold color; low key/GWT/lychee/lanolin rather simple nose; soft off-dry simple/GWT/lychee bit watery/dilute rather bitter flavor; med.short simple/lychee/GWT soft/off-dry bit watery/cloying rather bitter finish; too bitter & too sweet and dull as dishwater; not good at any price. $8.99(TJ)
________
A wee BlodyPulpit:
1. The PlumeRidge site doesn't even acknowledge ownership of this wine. It, in fact, comes from ArthurMetz in Marlemheim/Alsace to the West of Strasbourg in the Bas-Rhin.

I've never really thought about it, but instinctively it feels to me that maybe Gewurz is one of the grapes I'm least likely to take a chance on an unknown producer. The tropical low acid profile is easy to screw up. I buy Trimbach and Boxler, occasionally Navarro, Burn, ZH (when I want flamboyant), Frick. On the other hand, at $9 I'd have taken a chance too.
