Dark limpid wine with an aok and smoke nose, very decent fruit and soft tannin, with a good long finish. Kept getting better and better in the glass.

We liked this one quite a lot.

I've had this 3 tmes in last two years, 2 bottles have been quite excellent for the level (other one was ok but tasted less fresh and more advanced, storage should be been same but the vagaries of stored wines)

Last night at a wine store dinner, we had the `98 Ch la Grave a Pomerol. Very nice forward wine that drinks well already, my first experience of this chateau.

Sorry, I guess I missed the point of this.

Were you just posting to say you had experienced a different Pomerol in a different vintage? Congratulations.

If so, start another thread. This one is about the 1990 Bourgneuf.

If I've missed some connection I apologise.

Well, the subject was Pomerol so I just mentioned my experience. I thought this was a forum Bill and did not have time to start a new thread. No need to be off-hand.

Bob, the subject is 1990 Bourgneuf and I do not appreciate people free-associating and posting vaguely connected (and I do mean vague) material that potentially hijacks the thread.

Please observe appropriate netiquette and start your own thread if you want to talk about something other than the topic under discussion.

When people post about a specific wine, they are generally interested in responses that address the experience with that wine, or vintage, not "Gee, I had a red wine once...." which is pretty close to what you posted.

If you have something to contribute about this wine, I am eager to hear it.

If you just felt some need to post that you once drank a Pomerol, I suggest that you wait until you have the time to start your own thread.

Ok Bill, gee that wine sounds interesting. I am not too familar with this particular chateau and not too knowledgable with the wines from Pomerol. Will look out for it.
