Rhone, France. Labeled 13% abv. I believe this had a synthetic cork. Imported by Robert Kacher Selections, Wash-ington D.C. Sale price of $8.99 at MacArthur Beverages, D.C. I hadn't intended to hold the wine this long. It might have been fresher two or three years ago, but it still seemed very drinkable in the 86-87 pt. range. The wine is an orangey/coral color, deeper than salmon. The nose gives a suggestion of strawberries and cranberries (Richard Jennings noted cantaloupe and I can see that in retrospect.) On the palate the same fruits are present with sufficient acid to make it a refreshing drink with some vibrancy. It made a pleasant pairing with pork egg rolls and it would also complement ham or fried chicken. I wouldn't recommend holding it for six years after harvest as I did, but in this case it didn't seem to do much damage. A good QPR wine.
