Pensées de Lafleur a good buy?

I'm thinking of buying a couple of bottles of Pensées de Lafleur. Available vintages over here are 1999-2002, prices are 75-100$.

Any experience or thoughts on this wine are very much appreciated.

Bumping this up, because I'm interested in the question also, and have never tasted any.

I haven't had the vintages in question. My only Pensees experiences were with the 1988 (good, but unremarkable) and the 1998 (very good, still needs time).

But that of course won't stop me from offering an opinion. I think my thoughts as expressed in the thread re second wines -not sure where the value is at these prices. I've bought 1999 Gazin and Nenin for less than $40, and 2001 Trotanoy for $40 (I've avoided 2002 Right Banks after a few tastings). I think I'd rather have their first efforts than Lafleur's second label, unless I'd tasted that particular wine.

If the range is $75-100, from a sheer business standpoint if I were choosing I'd spend the $100 for the 2000. Most seconds are close to double for 2000 what they sell for in 1999, 2001, 2002.

Daniel, I would agree with Dale W, if you can get the 2000 vintage take that over 99 or the 02. 99 was an ok year and 02 was a wet year, so to be on the safe side go with 00 which was a very good one. Still it better be damn good for a hundred bucks!

What about the '01? I've loved the '01s from that side of the river ... ok both sides of the river ... any experiences with that especially?

Otto, I was just thinking that if Daniel was interested in drinking the wine anytime soon, then the 00 has that extra year on it. OTOH the 01 wines were also very good, and in fact he is unlikely to go wrong with either vintage. I do believe though in other people having their $$ tied up for aging if possible without me paying a premium.

Thanks for your reply. The Pensees 2000 is "only" 90$.
Gazin 2001 about the same, Trotanoy 2001 goes for 200$, no that's not a typo. I think I'll have look at the danish market before i decide.
