Intense dark ruby/garnet color leads to a fragrant nose of tart plum, cranberry and a note of smoky lavender and earthy minerals. The palate is compact and a little closed at the moment, but displays fairly intense flavors that mimic the nose and with excellent red fruit acidity. Tannins are very fine and need time to soften. The finish is long and sweet with some toast and mineral lingering for minutes. A lovely example of Cote de Beaune which will reward a few years of cellaring. Even though it is a 2003, there is not any evidence of high alcohol or raisined fruit.

James,

Thanks for the TN.

Savigny-Les-Baune has always been my favorite Burgundy appellation in terms of both bang-for-the-buck and reliability from vintage to vintage. and Simon Bize is an excellent producer.

So what are they charging for this gem?
