WTN: 2008 Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Clos Windsbuhl

2008 Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Clos Windsbuhl (Alsace Grand Cru)
Intoxicating freshness on the nose with notes of white peach and lemon.
A texture like silk. Hints of white fruits and chalk. Its vibrant, sublime acidity is omnipresent on the palate and gives to this wine a very long, dry and salty finish (at only 12.5% alc.). What a beauty! Has nothing in common with average Riesling from Alsace. Some residual sugar (I think I have read about 9g/l) may explain a part of the miracle. - Zind-Humbrecht at its best! Still very young. Should develop nicely for another decade at least. My subjective rating: 94+/100.

Cheers, Rainer

I had a bunch of disappointing Z-H from 2004/2005 and have just not gone back. Instead been focusing on Dirler-Cade and of course Trimbach (plus the tiny bit of Boxler I can get).

Now you have me curious.

Since when is Windsbuhl a Grand Cru? I thought Rosacker was the only GC in Hunawihr?

Examining some labels on Cellar Tracker, it does not appear the CW is GC.

To my mind it is the most beautiful vineyard in Alsace.
