WTN: Aussie Semillon

by Jim Grow » Mon Mar 13, 2017 8:19 pm

2008 Kaesler Old Vine Semillon; under screw cap, medium straw color, from there everything went downhill. The nose and palate were more reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc, which I pretty much hate! There was NO lanolin but some decent viscousity for what that's worth. Thankfully my only bottle. Only $18 many years ago but I should search out Tyrells Vat #1 if I really want a fine Semillon experience. abv of %14.

Don't know Kaesler (shiraz yes, anything else no) from what, but you're so right about Tyrell's for semillon.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Don't want to pile on here and haven't had the producer you opened, but yes, try Tyrell's before you give up. And then again, you just not be wired to like Aussie semillon. Don't fret: it's not a sin. 8)
