Two Contrasting Pinots (Thrall and Poe)

With corned beef Friday!!!!!

2012 Thrall Pinot Noir. Anderson Valley. A small wine project-I met the winemaker at Two Shepherds in Windsor at one of their events.

A very interesting Pinot. Slightly funky, even a little bit of spritz? Piercing pomegranate Anderson Valley fruit-very pretty fruit, indeed. Bracing acidity went very well with the Irish Wine Killer of a meal. More on the red fruit side. We really enjoyed this wine, and we followed it up with another new, smaller project:

2013 Poe Sonoma Mountain Pinot Noir. This is from Cabernet Country! Yet, this was a stunning wine, pure in its black fruit, yet not over extracted at all, not alcoholic, not sweet. Instead, like the Thrall, there is a savoriness to this wine that went very well with the savory strangeness of The Man In the High Castle! This Poe project is quite interesting. She also makes an amazing Pinot Nouveau....a bit like the Scribe* wine but better, imho.

*I want to like Scribe-they check all the boxes, but I just cannot get that excited about the actual wine!
