13.6% abv. Purchased after a tasting with the Cowans at their winemaking facility in Santa Rosa, CA in 2015. Dark purple color, dense and semi-opaque. Quite aromatic reminding me of raspberry. On the palate I find dark cherries and berries with a bit of smoke and earth. It is somewhat tart but enjoyable. It was balanced and invited repeated sips. I preferred it at a slightly chilled temperature. I had this one night with breaded chicken and macaroni and cheese and another evening with corned beef hash and poached egg. It is versatile enough to pair with other proteins or perhaps a ratatouille or mushroom risotto.
