Mt. Difficulty Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2014 - Central Otago, NZ; 14% abv; c.40€
This was a pleasant surprise. I'm not usually a huge fan of NZ PN but this wasn't as in-your-face as many others we've had available here: this smelled of Pinosity rather than Ocean Spray juice and chocolate. And even better than smelling of Pinsoty, it smelled of slightly stemmy Pinosity! I love a touch of stemminess. Not as powerful as the stereotype of NZ PN we've mostly seen here but still a softer, rounder and sweeter style than Burgundy yet somehow it is refreshing and moreish. So yeah, it finally happened: a nice NZ PN. Shame about the price.
I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.
