WTN: Avanguardia Corvina '13...(short/boring)

Tried this last night w/ my grilled cheese samwich:
1. Avanguardia Corvina SierraFoothills/NevadaCnty (13.2%; www.AvanguardiaWines.cpm) NevadaCity 2013: Med.light color; some earthy/dusty bit rustic/Italianate some cherry/black cherry lightly spicy/dried fennel seed slightly fragrant nose; lightly tart some cherry/black cherry bit earthy/dusty/rustic/rough flavor w/ light rough tannins; long cherry/black cherry/grapey some rough/earthy/loamy lightly tart finish w/ light rough/coarse tannins; better than most Valpolicellas w/ more fruit; reminds a lot of a simple Mendo Carignane; a decent Italianate rustic red. $22.00 (CB)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Corvina:This is a grape found mostly in the Veneto and used in Valpolicella. It's an offspring of Refosco
dal Peduncola Rosso and a grandchild of Marzemino.
I haven't tried a Valpolicella in yrs. I should try a recent one to see what they're like. But I have never been impressed by Valpolicella/Bardolino.
