2009 Anthill Farms Pinot Noir Comptche Ridge Vineyard - USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County (9/22/2017)
This is evolving rather slowly, with the deep red berry fruit just beginning to round out, and only hints of development emerging around the edges. There's a bit of earthy, dried herb, along with a pepper and anise accents, but they all still play second fiddle to what is an uncanny balance of succulent yet well controlled fruit. This is aging on its acids, so given the smart balance I could see at least 3-5 more years of improvement in store, though I won't know, as it was my last bottle.
