My Prima IlConsorzia shipment arrived ystrday, so I Pobega'd:
1. ElenaWalch Lagrein DOC: AltoAdige (12.5%; L163201; ElenaWalch.com) Tramin 2015: Med.color; strong earthy/loamy fairly classic Lagrein/plummy/bit peppery/spicy slightly rustic nose; lightly tart/tangy quite earthy/loamy/root cellar fairly plummy/Lagrein/spicy light peppery bit Pinotish slight metallic/rustic flavor w/ light tangy tannins; long slightly tart/tangy/lean rather earthy/loamy/Lagrein/plummy/bit spicy finish w/ light tannins; a rather attractive/drinkable classic loamy/AltoAdige Lagrein at a good price. $17.97 (PrimaIlC)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Lagrein is the grape commonly found in the AltoAdige, but its origins are in Trentino. Lagreiin = Teroldego X ??, and supposedly related to Syrah/PinotNoir/Deureza.
This Lagrein was fairly typical of the variety in the AltoAdige w/ a lot of soft plummy character and lots of loamy AltoAdige red character. Not a profound red, but just good drinking. I seldom get any Teroldego character in them, mostly that loamy/compost pile character.
