2014 Gallica Grenache Red Wine Shake Ridge Ranch - USA, California, Sierra Foothills, Amador County (10/31/2017)
Spoooky good for Halloween. This blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and a touch of Viognier shows off the bright red fruit of Grenache with the depth of Syrah and Mourvedre. Earthy, herbal elements creep in on the aromatics after some time in glass, giving the wine a more complete form. It's sneaky tannic, and just a bit kirsch-esque on the finish. Hopefully some cellar time tamps down that alcoholic aspect. Overall I like the wine very much, but struggle with the pricing ($55) when placed against similar bottles from Shake Ridge.
