Time for a Chinon!

2012 Domaine de Pallus Chinon Les Pensees de Pallus.

Cellared 2 yrs, think around $24 Cdn, 12.5% alc. Decanted one hour, no sediment noted.
Bright color, slight purple, no bricking noted but poor light. On the nose, typical Cab Franc notes but not too much green pepper. Earthy, no ash, bay leaf maybe. Initial entry thought is low tannin, drinks well right now, moderate acidity, quite complex. Currants, berries, "some red fruit" from across the table.
Some herb tones here, slight tobacco, not too much development overnight, held up well I thought. Good buy!

Yup, time for another Chinon! I have opened the 2013 Noblaie Domaine Chinon. The cork is a tad dried out but I did store well. $26 Cdn I guess and 12.5% alc.
Color is a medium plum with just a hint of bricking.
Nose has nice violets and raspberry..quite inviting. Still seems fresh, some blueberry from across the table.
Initial entry thought is drinking nicely right now. Bravo Noblaie! Medium bodied, good acidity, has held up well.Dark fruits, no greeness, long finish, soft tannins, blackberry and blueberry. Many might not guess Cab Franc. Stay tuned for day 2 forumites.

Great minds think alike! This was last night's tipple. I have to confess that I enjoyed it a lot more than the previous night's famous Pontet-Canet.

2017 Domaine de la Noblaie Chinon Le temps des cerises - France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Chinon (2/11/2019)
This is close to my ideal for one and a bit year old Chinon. Medium bodied and bursting with ripe CabFranc fruit and showing a typical leafiness, charcoal touch, minerality and moreish acidity, but free of that resinous note which, for me, disfigures a lot of young entry level wines of this type. It was difficult not to empty the bottle in one sitting. I will definitely buy enough more bottles to drink in the next few months but don't think it has the structure for a much longer haul. Very good right now.
