Stuff from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Falanghina: A grape variety found on the coast of Compania and enjoying a mini-revival. There are
actually two varieties, falanghina beneventana and falanghina flegrea. Usually blended together.
Asimov has a NYTimes review of Falanghinas:
https://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/17/dini ... ghina.html
The Arnot-Roberts is the first released Falanghina from Calif. It was easily the best of the sorry
lot of four Falanghinas. Still not what you call a profound wine.

2. Savagnin/SavagninBlanc: Is not SauvignonBlanc. Savagnin is grown mostly in the Jura, used for VinJaune. It was thought
to be the same as Traminer of the SudTirol. Galet thinks it has an unstable genome and mutated going from the Tyrol
to the Jura. Not sure what the DNA tells us. There is a sizeable planting in Australia, where it was once thought
to be Albarino, but later identified as Savagnin.

3. LimerickLane: Another really outstanding release from JakeBilbro and crew. Their Zins rank right up there w/ Carlisle/
Bedrock/Once&Future. The wines are big & extracted but they always have a brisk acidity that keeps it in balance and
keeps them from being over-the-top. I don't think they get the recognition for the Syrahs they make...as good as
any in Calif. Little did I know when I first tasted the Rancho Sotoyome Syrah back in the early '80's that such
great Syrah could come from this area on LimerickLane. It became ChristopherCreekWnry later on. This was just before
you got to LimerickLaneWnry going up the road. I presume the LL Syrah was planted by MikeCollins from cuttings
taken down the road there.

4. The Ryme Fiano was tasted a week later from a good btl I opened. It seems to have put on a bit more weight from when
I first tasted it.

Sounds more like Failanghinas.

Did you get any of the LL Obsidian Block? That is the only bottling I grabbed from the most recent release.

Nope, David. By the time I put together the order for my group, it was sold out.
I could have leaned on Jake to spring me a btl, but didn't get around to it.
