Thursday we went to Racines in Tribeca for a belated anniversary dinner. We ordered a few glasses to accompany a varied (and delicious) group dishes.
Mushroom soup amuse
Gravlax with avocado and citrus dressing
Veal Tartare with littleneck clams on a delicious cream sauce
Fregola Sarda with chanterelles (a delightfully heavy hand with the parmesan, very rich)
Black seabass on spinach with roasted radish and kohlrabi
Porcelet with Brussels sprouts and squash
From memory, in order of my preference
2016 Albamar Albarino (Rias Baixas)
Crunchy, saline, mineral with good length, I’ll look for this.
2014 (?) Burlotto Dolcetto
I’ve drink a lot of Burlotto (mostly Barolo, but also Pelaverga, Barbera, Sauvignon Blanc, Freisa, and rose) but never remember having a Dolcetto before. Tannic structure, good acids for Dolcetto, cherry and woodbark. Full and fresh.
2016 Hatzidakis Santorini
I assume this is Assyrtiko , citrus and grass, nice crispness, but without the depth of the Albarino.
2016 Les Fouques “L’Aubigue” Cotes de Provence rose
Cherry, spice, nice but could use a little more crispness.
