by TomHill » Wed Nov 29, 2017 1:36 pm

Searching about for a white to go with my salad, I randomly grabbed from my TablasCreek stash:
1. TablasCreekVnyd GrenacheBlanc PasoRobles (EB; 14.2%; Frmtd in SS & Foudre; 700 cs) 2013: Med.light gold color; beautiful gout de petrol/Mosel valve oil some mineral/bit chalky some floral/mango/pear quite complex nose; lightly tart fairly mineral/chalky somewhat savory/saline rather gout de petrol/Mosel valve oil slight tangy/metallic some floral/honeysuckle/GB/pear/mango quite complex flavor; very long/lingering some Mosel valve/petrol fairly tart/tangy quite savory some GB/floral/honeysuckle/pear/mango complex beautiful finish; one of the most incredible Calif GB's that I've had. $27.00/$21.60 (VIN)

really beautiful nose; fairly tart strong honeysuckle/honeyed/melony/pear/ripe/GB some mineral/valve oil/petrol
light chalky flavor; med.long honeyed/floral/honeysuckle/GB/pear light chalky/mineral bit petrol/valve oil
lovely finish; more Rhonish than most Calif GB; a terrific GB at a great price. $27.00/$21.60 (VIN)

It was interesting that I picked up the petrol character in this wine 2.5 yrs ago. I didn't recall that I had. But the baby fat as worn off this btl, the brash GB fruit has started to recede, and the complex petrol strengthened. Something I'd not seen in GB before. It's an incredible wine that I'd put up against a Rayas Blanc any day.
